Our vaccination protocol is tailored to your individual pet. We assess the risks and benefits of all the vaccinations available to us and decide with your input how often to vaccinate your pet. This is what we recommend:
DOGS:
Distemper,hepatits,parvovirus and parainfluenza “DHPP”
Initially 2 to 4 DHPP vaccines , usually as puppies
A booster at 1 year of age
Then every 1 to 3 years depending on the dog’s exposure to potentially sick pets
Bordatella
Initially as a puppy at approximately 15 weeks of age
Then a booster yearly
**Some kennels require this every 6 months***
Rabies
This is required by law for all dogs.
Initially at 16 weeks of age
Then at 1 year of age
Followed by every 3 years as required by the State of California
Rattlesnake Vaccine
Initially 2 vaccines 3 weeks apart
Then yearly.
CATS:
Feline viral rhinotracheitis, calici and panleukopenia “FVRCP”
Initially 2-3 FVRCP vaccines, usually as kittens
A booster at 1 year of age
Then every 1-3 years depending on the cat’s exposure to infectious, sick cats
Feline leukemia virus “FELV”
Initially 2 FELV vaccines, usually as kittens
A booster at 1 year of age
Then every 1-3 years depending on exposure to sick cats
Rabies ---Only needed in outside cats
Initially at 16 weeks of age
A booster at 1 year of age
Every 3 years thereafter
