Physical Examinations And Internal Medicine |

Our doctors perform a complete physical examination with each visit, starting at the head of your pet and working towards the tail. We recommend an exam at least once a year.
Dr. Davis and Dr. Reid are experienced in cardiology,
ophthalmology, dermatology, neurology, gastroenterology and endocrinology.
We offer microchipping and travel health certificates. We are very experienced with ear cleaning and bandaging techniques.

Anesthesia |

| The Aliso Beach Animal Clinic uses the safest anesthetics and state of the art anesthetic machines. The doctors carefully monitor each pet ‘s heart with a modern ECG and we constantly measure your pet’s blood oxygen level with a pulse oximeter. We use a heated surgery table and have strict instrument sterilization requirements. We have an advanced blood pressure monitor. |

Dentistry |

Our dental cleanings are done with a general anesthesia so that we can examine every tooth thoroughly and clean each surface properly. Our experienced technician cleans the teeth with a piezoelectric tooth-scaling device and then performs subgingival curettage to clean under the gum line. The doctor then examines every tooth to check for decay and disease. We measure the depth of pockets in the gums and document everything in your pet’s chart.
Finally the teeth are polished and fluoride is applied to discourage further dental disease.

Surgery |

| Dr. Reid and Dr. Davis perform routine as well as non-routine surgeries. We do spays, neuters and growth removals. Dr. Reid does more complicated surgeries such as gastrotomies, enterotomies and cystotomies. These are to remove foreign bodies in the stomach, small intestine and bladder. We are also very experienced in removing foxtails from feet, ears, and noses. |

Radiology / Imaging |

| Our excellent technicians and kennel staff take x-rays of our clients’ pets right in our clinic. Results are ready within minutes. Ultrasound imaging is available by appointment with a consulting ultrasound specialist. |

Laboratory |

|
|
We utilize an “in house” laboratory as well as an outside diagnostic lab. We do fecal analysis and elisa giardia tests right in our hospital. With these tests we can tell if your pet has internal parasites right away. Our experienced technicians also analyze urine samples. The doctors do needle aspirations from tumors, stain the slides and read them under the microscope for immediate answers. For more specialized diagnostics and to confirm our diagnoses we send samples to our special veterinary lab, Antech Diagnostics, in Irvine, California. This lab picks up our samples twice daily and usually has results for us in less than 8 hours.
One of the specialized tests we have is a genetic test to determine what breed of dog you have. We also offer vaccine titers, which are an alternative to vaccinating your pet . These test to see if your pet is immune to distemper and parvovirus or panleukopenia.

Vaccinations |

We offer a core set of vaccinations for your dog and cat, individualized for your specific needs and risk factors. Most pets are vaccinated for distemper (DHPP for dogs and FVRCP for cats) as puppies and kittens, at age one and then every 3 years thereafter. Rabies is required by law in dogs and recommended in any cats that go outside. Bordatella is a contagious “cold” like disease also known as “kennel cough.” It is everywhere in the environment and airborne so we recommend all dogs have this vaccine yearly.
***If your pet has cancer or is allergic to vaccines we can write a Rabies Deferment so he is exempt from the state requirement.****

Euthanasia |

| If your pet needs euthanasia, we have compassionate staff and doctors for this sad event. This can be done with you and your family present if desired. All pets are cremated by a very reputable outside service and we can have your pet’s ashes returned to us for you to bury at home. |

Bathing |

| Our excellent kennel staff and veterinary assistants enjoy doing routine bathing as well as medicated baths. Each bath includes complimentary ear cleaning, anal gland expression and toe nail trim. We regret we do not have a groomer on premises. |

Boarding |

| The kennel area is perfect for boarding small dogs and cats. We walk the dogs every 2 hours and give all the animals our special attention. We board pets with special needs, those on insulin and other medications. We can accommodate individual dietary requirements as well. Note: We like to try out the dogs before they come to board with us to make sure they like it (i.e. do not cry and bark too much) |

Pharmacy |

| The clinic has a complete pharmacy with most of the medications and over the counter products you will need. If we do not carry a product, we can call an outside pharmacy or have it made at a compounding pharmacy. |

| We stock many types of prescription diets including Hills, Royal Canin , IVD and Purina. Your pet has many options to chose from if the doctor has it on a prescription diet. For our existing clients we can special order diets as needed. |

Emergency |

| Emergencies are welcome during office hours. We try to have a doctor available at these times. If we are closed, please call Animal Urgent Care at 949-364-6228. |
